Paulo Pita – Goalkeeper – Los Angeles Football Club

Former Buffalo and Fan-favorite Paulo Pita was just picked in Round 1 of the 2020 MLS Super Draft by Los Angeles Football Club. Paulo Pita was the starting goalkeeper for The Villages SC in our inaugural year (2016) finishing the season playing 13 games for a total of 1,168 minutes with 26 saves. He returned to play for us again in 2018 playing in a total of 7 matches with only 3 goals against and a total of 34 saves.

We asked Goal Keeper Coach Sergio Santos his thoughts on Paulo Pita being selected and he said, “Paulo is a very good goalkeeper, I’m not surprised he was a first round pick. I think his best skill is in the way he trains, very hard, I mean he will give you all he has in keeper trainings.” We also asked Coach Sergio of a fond memory he has of Paulo, he replied, “The first thing that comes to my mind was the the time we were coming back from a game, we were celebrating a win on the bus, someone called him to the front of the bus and gave him a microphone, he sang a song and really went for it.”

Joshua Fawole – Forward – DC United FC

Another 2020 MLS Super Draft selection. This time is 2019 player Joshua Fawole picked in the second round by DC United FC. Joshua, a forward, played for 11 games with 2 goals and 1 assist for the Buffalo in the 2019 USL League Two season. He was a leader on the field and chosen as captain for The Villages SC. Joshua a native of Maryland who played college soccer for Loyola University Maryland will remain in the area as he goes to play for DC United.

We asked Coach Anderson his thoughts on Joshua, he said, “One thing to say, he is a very strong player and he works really hard. On his days off he always worked on his own. We held morning trainings and he would do additional training on his own in the afternoon. He always put in the time and effort to perform at a higher level.”
